Lunar New Year 2013 was the largest ever celebration in held in Chinatown Adelaide, spilling out from Moonta Street to Gouger Street. With Adelaide City Council Partnership, generous sponsors, devoted volunteers and many community groups the event delighted over 20,000 people. Saturday February 1st, 2014 promises to build on the success. Due to expected hot weather the event will begin at 4pm.
The Chinatown Adelaide Lunar New Year Street Festival 2014 theme is Qingdao Mei Mei (Adelaide is Qingdao’s, Little Sister). Our partners this year will help us celebrate Adelaide soon becoming Qingdao’s (China) Sister City
Using the backdrop of Chinatown welcoming the Year of the Horse, we will celebrate our Qingdao and Shandong relationships with the best seafood and beer from Adelaide, Port Lincoln and Qingdao.
He Pijiu, ChiGala means Drink Beer & Eat Clams in Chinese!
Qingdao’s most famous company, Tsingtao Beer has a direct relationship with Adelaide. Much of the barley that goes into making this world-renowned brand and China’s most popular beer comes from the farms of South Australia
Tsingtao Beer, Eyre Peninsula Seafood Frontier, Port Lincoln Hotel, and Adelaide’s favourite food trucks are participating in Chinatown 2014 LNY.
Enjoy wonderful cultural performances in the popular free concert. Some announcements to be made soon about special guests.
