Gouger Street will be transformed into a bazaar of food, music and entertainment for Adelaide’s biggest ever Lunar New Year party.Entertainment will include bands and dancing troupes, video game tournaments, fashion parades, demonstrations of tai chi and kung fu, 60 stalls to browse and the chance to play mahjong, chess and table tennis.
The feature act will be George Kamikawa and Noriko Tadano, the musical duo who shot to fame on Australia’s Got Talent last year by performing a blend of Eastern and Western musical styles.
Young Chinese Art School of SA dancers will be among the 30 groups of performers taking part. A temporary playground will also be set up.
Adelaide City Council, developers Tangcheng, Datong and Mandala and local traders have funded the $100,000 event, from noon
