Royal South Australian Society of the Arts Portrait Prize major prize donated by Zhang family

“The Royal South Australian Society of the Arts second Portrait Prize Exhibition has just announced that this year’s major prize will be donated by Irena Zhang. Irena is the Owner of Zi Gallery. The Zhang family support of the Arts and the RSASA continues, by Irena’s generous gift of $10,000 to the second Royal South Australian Society Portrait Prize. It will be dedicated to her father Victor Zhang. Cristina Tridente’s 2015 Asialink Arts Residency in China


Cristina Tridente, the Adelaide Fashion Festival Coordinator and couture+love+madness designer was awarded one of the 30 Asialink Arts Residency Grants by Eliza Roberts the Asialink Arts Residency Manager. Chinatown Adelaide, the Australia China Development Company and the Confucius Institute at the University of Adelaide are pleased to support Cristina Tridente’s 2015 Asialink Arts Residency in China.


ACDC hosts Luncheon Forum with The Hon. Tanya Plibersek


The Australia China Development Company hosted a ALP Luncheon Forum for The Hon. Tanya Plibersek, Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Development on 9th October 2014. TACDC Chairman the Hon. Chris Schacht was the MC and discussed a deeper engagement with Asia. This was followed by a keynote speech and lively Q&A session with The Hon. Tanya Plibersek, Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Development.

The Hon. Chris Schacht has completed a busy week of activities related to the OzAsia Shandong opening and to events related to South Australia receiving a delegation of Chinese officials including Chinese Ambassador Mr Ma Zhaoxu. Following SA Premier Jay Weatherill’s keynote speech on 3rd September to Mr Ma Zhaoxu, Mr Schacht attended the opening night performance of OzAsia. Performed by Qingdao Song and Dance Theatre, Red Sorghumis a visually spectacular modern dance drama. Mr Schacht said it is a great promotion of Qingdao as a centre of cultural excellence. The following night he enjoyed Shandong Acrobatic Troupe’s Dream of the Ghost Story of which he remarked there was an amazing synthesis of acrobatics, ballet, modern dance and chinese/western music style, with a special mention to the stunning costumes and sets. He noted both performances received long standing ovations. On Monday 7th September, he was pleased to be in attendance


Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello, the host of SA’s only travel show visits Qingdao


Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello, the host of SA’s only travel show will be leaving his beloved state to visit Qingdao in an effort to work towards having ‘South Aussie with Cosi’ screened in China. The focus of cooperation will be in Adelaide’s new sister city Qingdao in SA’s sister state Shandong Province. Cosi sees great economic opportunity in having South Aussie with Cosi broadcast in China. He says  “Chinese tourists are on the move and they love what we have here in SA, we just need to let more of them know what we have to offer. Using the 35 episodes of the show that I have already made is a great way to get SA in front of millions of Chinese”. Cosi and his manager Brenton Clarke will travel to China early August to continue dialogue and the building of relationships with the Shandong TV networks. ‘South Aussie with Cosi’
