2014 Lunar New Year & Qingdao – Adelaide Sister City Street Party

“The Year of the Horse, a new sister city relationship with Qingdao and a smorgasbord of great SA seafood. More than 20,000 people are expected to head to Gouger and Moonta streets for the festival dubbed Qingdao Mei Mei, meaning Adelaide is Qingdaos Little Sister. The Chinese citys most famous company, Tsingtao Beer, is providing red lanterns to adorn Gouger St, while sponsors from Eyre Peninsula will ensure the event is a seafood extravaganza complete with tuna filleting demonstrations.(It) will be a celebration of the long friendship between Adelaide and Qingdao with the best seafood and beer from Port Lincoln and Qingdao, Chinatown Association president Irena Zhang says.
Its bringing people together to understand each others culture. The City Messenger reported in October that Qingdao was to become Adelaides fifth sister city and its first in 30 years.
